Human Gene ARF6 (ENST00000298316.7) from GENCODE V44
Description: Homo sapiens ADP ribosylation factor 6 (ARF6), mRNA. (from RefSeq NM_001663) RefSeq Summary (NM_001663): This gene encodes a member of the human ARF gene family, which is part of the RAS superfamily. The ARF genes encode small guanine nucleotide-binding proteins that stimulate the ADP-ribosyltransferase activity of cholera toxin and play a role in vesicular trafficking and as activators of phospholipase D. The product of this gene is localized to the plasma membrane, and regulates vesicular trafficking, remodelling of membrane lipids, and signaling pathways that lead to actin remodeling. A pseudogene of this gene is located on chromosome 7. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]. ID:ARF6_HUMAN DESCRIPTION: RecName: Full=ADP-ribosylation factor 6; FUNCTION: GTP-binding protein involved in protein trafficking; regulates endocytic recycling and cytoskeleton remodeling. May modulate vesicle budding and uncoating within the Golgi apparatus. Functions as an allosteric activator of the cholera toxin catalytic subunit, an ADP-ribosyltransferase. Involved in the regulation of dendritic spine development (By similarity). Contributes to the regulation of dendritic branching and filopodia extension. SUBUNIT: Interacts with ARHGAP21, ASAP2, HERC1, PIP5K1C and UACA. Interacts with NCS1/FREQ at the plasma membrane. Interacts with RAB11FIP3 and RAB11FIP4. Interacts with USP6 (via Rab-GAP TBC domain). Interacts with ECM29. Interacts with TBC1D24. INTERACTION: P53365:ARFIP2; NbExp=4; IntAct=EBI-638181, EBI-638194; P21283:ATP6V1C1; NbExp=4; IntAct=EBI-638181, EBI-988663; SUBCELLULAR LOCATION: Golgi apparatus. Cell membrane; Lipid- anchor. Endosome membrane; Lipid-anchor. Cell membrane. Cell projection, filopodium membrane; Lipid-anchor. Note=Recruited to the cell membrane in association with CYTH2 and ARL4C. TISSUE SPECIFICITY: Ubiquitous, with higher levels in heart, substantia nigra, and kidney. SIMILARITY: Belongs to the small GTPase superfamily. Arf family.
The RNAfold program from the Vienna RNA Package is used to perform the secondary structure predictions and folding calculations. The estimated folding energy is in kcal/mol. The more negative the energy, the more secondary structure the RNA is likely to have.

The pictures above may be empty if there is no ModBase structure for the protein. The ModBase structure frequently covers just a fragment of the protein. You may be asked to log onto ModBase the first time you click on the pictures. It is simplest after logging in to just click on the picture again to get to the specific info on that model.
Orthologous Genes in Other Species
Orthologies between human, mouse, and rat are computed by taking the best BLASTP hit, and filtering out non-syntenic hits. For more distant species reciprocal-best BLASTP hits are used. Note that the absence of an ortholog in the table below may reflect incomplete annotations in the other species rather than a true absence of the orthologous gene.
