Evidence: Fractalkine is the only chemokine in the category of CX3C chemokines (Bazan et al. 1997). It is a unique chemokine in that it not only acts as a chemoattractant, but also as an adhesion molecule that is expressed on endothelial cells upon stimulation with inflammatory molecules such as TNF-a , interferon g, and IL-1 (Bazan et al. 1997).
